Frequently Asked Questions

Are green grapes better for you than purple grapes?

There are several colors of grapes, including red, black, purple or blue (Concord), green (which is used to make white wine), pink and yellow. "Although all types of grapes are healthy, red grapes and Concord grapes are higher in flavonoids and phytonutrients, including resveratrol," said Rumsey. Accordingly, are green or purple grapes healthier? Both red and green grapes contain resveratrol, but red grapes, and specifically their skins, contain more.

Are green grapes just unripe red grapes?

Those two grapes are completely different types of grapes. If green grapes were an unripe red grape, then they would be sour and unpleasantly hard. But green grapes are actually very sweet, some can be almost as sweet as red grapes. Though they are usually a bit more tart.

How to make grape pie?

  • Put grapes into saucepan without water.
  • Over low heat, add sugar and flour.
  • Mix lightly through grapes
  • Sprinkle with lemon juice.
  • Pour mixture into a pie crust.
  • Dot filling with butter.
  • Add top pie crust and cut four slits.
  • Bake at 425 for 35 - 40 mins

Are green grapes and red grapes from the same vine?

The superior grape stems from personal preference. Red grapes are often considered sweeter whereas green grapes are sourer. The different color in green and red grapes is caused by the production of anthocyanin in one gene of the grapes. A mutation in green grapes causes anthocyanin to not be produced and therefore, the grapes stay green.
