2. Cover with water and bring to a quick boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for about 15 minutes, or until the jalapeno peppers soften up. They will turn dull green and you can pierce them with a fork easily, but do not let them become mushy.

Briefly cook until fragrant and then add: the de-stemmed jalapenos, 3/4 cup white vinegar, 1/2 cup water, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Bring to a simmer and then add everything to a blender.

Easy Jalapeno Sauce (For Dipping, or Drizzling) [Fresh

1. Slice the stem end of you jalapenos off discard, slice the jalapenos in half. At this point you can remove all, or some of the seeds and membrane from the jalapenos, or keep them in. This is where the spice lives. Since jalapenos can vary quite a bit in how spicy they are here is my suggestion: remove the seeds and membrane, but reserve them. Proceed with making the sauce, taste, and add the seeds and membrane into the sauce to increase the heat, as you like it. This way you don’t end up with a super spicy sauce if you don’t want it. At this time, also remove the stem end, and slice the poblanos in half, removing their seeds, discard the seeds. Peel the garlic cloves, you can leave them whole.
2. Transfer all of the ingredients (except for the jalapeno seeds, if you want to wait to see how spicy your sauce is) to a blender. Blend on high, scraping down sides as needed. The sauce should be mostly smooth and creamy. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed, or add those jalapeno seeds in to make the sauce more spicy. Also, at this time add the agave nectar if you need to round out the acidify of the lime juice a little – it’s not so much that it will make the sauce sweet.
3. You can use the jalapeno sauce immediately if you’re in a rush, but it is best if it’s chilled for at least 2 hours. This is especially nice when you are serving it as a dip with tortillas. It’s less important to chill the sauce if you are drizzling it over an entrée.
4. There are so many ways you can use this jalapeno sauce. We really love it as a dip with tortilla chips for an appetizer, or a side dish. However, I know it would be delicious as a sauce drizzled on almost any Mexican dishes: tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas, burritos etc. I also think it would be good on eggs and chicken. There are so many possibilities! (See links to recipe ideas in the post above).

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you make Jalapeno sauce?

Instructions Saute the oil, jalapeño peppers, onions, garlic, and salt in a sauce pan over high hight for 4 minutes. Pour water into the mix and cook, stirring often, for 20 minutes. Take pan off heat and let the mixture cool down to room temperature. Puree the mix in a food processor until it's completely smooth.

What can you make with jalapeno peppers?

Depending on your heat tolerance, you can incorporate a lot of jalapeno peppers into a sauce. One of my favorites is a roasted jalapeno-tomato sauce that I serve in a number of recipes, such as pastas, over chicken and fish, or over goat cheese as an appetizer.

What should I do with some jalapeno peppers?

Chop them up with some tomatoes, red onions, cilantro and lime for a fresh salsa, mince them into a homemade guac, use them to flavor a queso dip or ground meat for tacos, and you can even do a quick pickle of a handful of sliced green jalepenos for nachos. Finally you can use them in a spicy mango-margarita if you're feeling adventurous :)

What is Jalapeno tartar sauce?

Tartar sauce is the classic accompaniment to fried seafood, a cooling, tangy presence on the plate. Our classic jalapeño tartar recipe starts with store-bought mayonnaise and mixes in capers, pickles, scallions, lemon juice, black pepper, and a spicy twist: a chopped jalapeño pepper.
