Heat bacon drippings in the iron skillet. Swivel the drippings in the skillet to coat the bottom and sides and stir the excess into the batter. Pour the batter into the iron skillet and bake in the oven for about 35 - 40 minutes. Cornbread is ready when a toothpick or fork inserted in the middle comes back dry.
