Frequently Asked Questions

How to bake bread bowls?

Divide the dough into 5 pieces. Roll each piece into a ball. Place on a lightly greased or parchment covered baking sheet. Cover the bread bowls with greased plastic wrap. Refrigerate for 4 hours (or up to 24 hours); this step will give the bread bowls extra flavor, and a delightfully crisp-chewy texture.

How do you use a clay pan to bake bread?

The domed lid and clay walls trap steam generated from baking and mimic a steam-injected oven to make a crispy, crackly crust, and moist, chewy interior. Pan perfectly cradles a 3-cup-of-flour loaf as it rises. Simply cover with the lid, and bake.

What is no knead bread and how do you make it?

No Knead Bread was first published in the New York Times about 10 years ago. This bread requires no kneading which is why it’s become so popular. You basically throw everything in a bowl, mix it up, let it sit around for a few hours and let the yeast do its work, then bake it.

Can you bake bread in a pyrex bowl?

It bakes in well-buttered Pyrex bowls — there is no pre-heating of the baking vessels in this recipe — and it emerges golden and crisp without any steam pans or water spritzes. This is not artisan bread, nor is it trying to be. It is peasant bread, spongy and moist with a most-delectable buttery crust.
